Klipsch Klipschorn 80th Anniversary
A true audio landmark
First introduced in 1946, the Klipschorn is one of the most iconic loudspeakers ever created and holds the rare distinction of being one of the world’s longest running commercial loudspeaker designs. For this 80th Anniversary edition, Klipsch has revisited Paul W. Klipsch’s original thinking and created a special model that honours the past while embracing modern acoustic advances.
Limited to just 280 pairs worldwide, each pair is hand built to order by skilled artisans at the Klipsch factory in Hope, Arkansas.
A modern interpretation of the original Klipschorn
At the heart of the Limited Edition 80th Anniversary Klipschorn is a fully horn loaded design created for breathtaking efficiency, effortless scale and exceptional dynamic realism. The loudspeaker follows the spirit of Paul W. Klipsch’s original two way concept, updated with contemporary drive unit technology and a dedicated active crossover system.
A new K 5 K high frequency horn with a 2 inch throat is paired with a powerful 4 inch compression driver using motor technology inspired by the Klipsch Jubilee. This combination is designed to deliver explosive dynamics, lifelike detail and a room filling sense of presence with astonishing ease.
Deep, powerful folded horn bass
The Klipschorn’s famous folded horn bass system remains central to its performance. Its fully enclosed low frequency cabinet works with a powerful K 33 E 15 inch woofer to produce deep, rich and articulate bass with the clarity, speed and impact that define the Klipsch Heritage sound.
Active crossover precision
The external Klipsch Active Crossover uses DSP to optimise phase, time delay, EQ and gain, helping the drivers blend seamlessly while maximising output through the crossover region.
Inspired by Paul W. Klipsch’s original ideas
Active crossover technology is not simply a modern addition to the Klipschorn story. Even in the earliest days of the design, Paul W. Klipsch explored active networks and amplifier concepts that were far ahead of their time. This anniversary model brings that thinking into a finished loudspeaker system with modern DSP control and carefully engineered acoustic integration.
The matching external active crossover is finished in Tigerwood veneer and is designed for flexible placement on a shelf or within a rack. Adjustable low frequency and high frequency trim controls allow the system to be tailored to the room and the listener’s personal taste.
Hand built Heritage craftsmanship
Each pair of 80th Anniversary Klipschorn speakers is hand built in Hope, Arkansas using book matched Tigerwood veneer, creating a mirror image grain pattern across the two cabinets. Brass inlay accents follow the contour of the folded horn, adding a refined visual detail that complements the rich wood finish and sand cast aluminium horn.
This is a loudspeaker designed not only as a reference audio product, but also as a collector grade celebration of Klipsch history.
Included anniversary extras
Buyers of the Limited Edition 80th Anniversary Klipschorn will receive a complimentary membership to the Klipsch Museum of Audio History, an organisation dedicated to preserving Paul W. Klipsch’s legacy and the wider history of audio.
